County tightens MH ordinances

The Early County Commission heard the second reading of a resolution to amend the county's mobile home ordinance at Monday night's meeting and then cast their votes to approve the ordinance changes.

The amended ordinance puts age limits on mobile homes that can be moved within as well as into Early County's unincorporated areas. According to the language of the ordinance, no manufactured home or travel trailer, located within Early County nor outside of Early County, Georgia, shall be allowed to be moved or relocated within or into the unincorporated areas of Early County, Georgia, or setup within the unincorporated areas of the county if such manufactured home or travel trailer was manufactured more than 15 years prior to the date the owner applies for the permit.

The ordinance went into effect Oct. 1.

In other business, the commissioners approved a contract and amendments with Norman Appraisal for appraisal services for the county.

Kenneth Winns was reappointed to the recreation board and commissioners learned that the county's health insurance for the new year was Aetna for medical coverage and Guardian for dental coverage. The commission also approved a request to close county offices Dec. 31 with employees taking the day as annual leave.
