He made more than I did!

Billy Fleming

Thank you, thank you very much! for that roaring, standing ovation from our Bulldog friends. All that loud noise you heard Saturday night wasn't coming from the Auburn fans in the Swamp. A good bit of it was coming from Athens and other locations in the Bulldog Nation. Sorry again Charlie! Is there anything else we can do for you Bulldogs between now and Nov. 11? By the way, it didn't take Urban Meyer but three seconds - the final three - to move past Spurrier on Auburn fans' "list."

Thinking about our birthday this week, I came across the following... "When I was about ten years old, I became printer's devil in my Uncle Fleming's printing office where the Early County News was printed... My job at the Early County News office was my first steady pay job - five dollars a month... These were among the most enjoyable days of my life." - Judge Arthur G. Powell I Can Go Home Again That would have been around 1883. Like Judge Powell, some of my most enjoyable days were during my printer's devil days at about age 10. That was about 1956 for me, and I think he got paid more than I did!

I'm mellowing in my older years, not taking as many issues and people to task as I once did. And, the fact doesn't always sit well with me! However, over the next few months you are going to tire of my harping on a couple of subjects. First, the plan to do away with property taxes. Mr. Speaker, it's NOT going to happen. We're not about to send our tax dollars to Atlanta so you can tell us how much of it we will get back! Second, just as we have no intention of you getting your hands on our tax dollars, we're going to do everything within our power to keep you (the legislature) from getting your hands on our water! And you'll hear that again!
