SGA computer lab dedicated

Southwest Georgia Academy hosted a reception commemorating the opening of its new technology lab and classroom addition Sunday, Sept. 9. The facility includes two new classrooms and a state-of-the-art technology lab.

The addition began as a vision of an up-to-date computer lab for the school. Because of the initial financial contribution of the late Owen Turner, an Early County native, the vision began to take form. Through the efforts of the capital funds committee, the school was able to raise enough money to build upon the dream of Mr. Turner.

Because of Turner's foresight and confidence in SGA, the technology lab was dedicated and named the Owen Donald Turner Computer Lab. It is a networked lab with 26 computer workstations, a networked printer and a digital laser projector.

The dedication ceremony was opened by Jodi Foster, president of the student council, giving the invocation. Following the invocation, Doug Dease, SGA's headmaster, presented the dedication plaque to board chairman Jeff Brown.

Those who attended were invited to tour the new addition and then return to the lunchroom to enjoy refreshments. SGA students who presided over the refreshment table were Jodi Harris, student council president, Lindsay Buckhalter, HANDS president, Blake Shepard, Beta Club president, and Boone Kennedy, SADD president.
