Rural Development reorganizes in SWGA USDA Rural Development's housing office in Bainbridge has closed and staff is being transferred to the office in Camilla. This is part of a new statewide reorganization plan. "Housing programs will now be conducted in the Camilla office," said Godfrey Hinds, area director in Tifton. "Our offices in Tifton and Camilla will serve 25 counties in Southwest Georgia." Rural Development is transitioning from a three tier organization to a two tier organization in Georgia. All programs will be conducted from two locations in each of Georgia's six area offices. "Under the old organization, area offices provided service in business, community facilities and multifamily housing," Hinds said. "Now they will also implement housing programs." The Bainbridge office previously served Decatur, Early, Calhoun, Miller and Seminole counties for housing programs only. The Camilla office is located at 30 West Broad St., Room 101, and can be reached at 229-336-0371.
USDA Rural Development conducts loan and grant programs in rural areas. Programs are available in business, community facilities, water and waste, and single and multi family housing. For more information on Rural Development programs, visit http://www. rurdev.usda.gov/ga.
