Army Lt. Col. Keith R. Harris has assumed command of the 54th Signal Battalion at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. The commander has served in the military for 18 years.
The battalion's mission is to maintain a forwarddeployed, theater signal battalion to engineer, install, operate, maintain and protect the Army theater enterprise infrastructure in the U.S. Central Command's area of responsibility.
Harris is the son of Norma H. Great and brother of Eric L. Harris, both of Blakely. His wife, Cheryl, is the daughter of Tom Sneed of Newbern, Ala.
In 1978, Harris graduated from Early County High School and received a bachelor's degree in 1983 from Oakwood College, Huntsville, Ala. He earned a master's degree in 1987 from Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Mich.
