Miss Jodi Harris crowned SGA Homecoming queen

Alex Wilson crowns Jodi Harris during Friday night's SGA homecoming activities in Damascus.
Jodi Harris, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Will Harris of Bluffton, was crowned Southwest Georgia Academy Homecoming Queen Friday night in Damascus following the Warriors' win over Randolph Southern.

At halftime, the attendants paraded around the track and sat in a special area in the stands. Following the game, the girls were escorted to the track by their fathers and were introduced by Rick Laguardia.

The senior football players participated in the crowning ceremony. Alex Wilson crowned the queen, while Blake Shepard placed the banner. Michael Fincher presented the queen with a bouquet of white roses and Drew Bridges and Beau Clenney saluted Jodi with a kiss.

Lindsay Buckhalter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phil Buckhalter, along with Kayla Craft, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tim Craft and Ashley Tedder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.Teddy Tedder, served as senior members of the homecoming court. Junior attendants were Tori Askew, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Askew, and Emily Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dustin Davis. Kyndal Andrews, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Andrews, represented the sophomore class, with Marlena Collins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marty Collins, serving as freshman attendant.

The homecoming dance was Saturday night in the school cafeteria. The queen and her court were presented again. Each attendant chose a football player from her class as her escort. Michael Fincher escorted queen Jodi Harris. Lindsay Buckhalter chose Drew Bridges as her escort, Blake Shepard escorted Kayla Craft and Ashley Tedder was escorted by Beau Clenney. Escorting Tori Askew was Chandler Ray, and Miles Lee escorted Emily Davis. Kyndal Andrews chose Danny Doster and escorting Marlena Collins was Cody Buckhalter.

The homecoming court along with their escorts led the first dance. Jodi Harris then crowned SGA's homecoming king Blake Shepard. Blake is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Danny Shepard of Colquitt. Music was provided by Rick LaGuardia.
