Waver Melton Retired Waver Jones Thompson Melton, 86, of Ft. Gaines died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007, at Early Memorial Nursing Home. Mrs. Melton was born in Early County Feb. 9, 1921, to Walter Sanders Jones and Mary Elizabeth Davis Jones. She was a retired teacher's aide from the Early County School System, a member of Ft. Gaines Presbyterian Church and spent the last 21 years in Ft. Gaines. She was preceded in death by her husbands, W.O. "Buck" Thompson and Rev. Roger Melton. Survivors include one son, William Thompson and wife Connie of Blakely; three daughters, Lucy Chandler and husband Benny of Ft. Gaines, Nancy Guillen of Killeen, Texas, and Judy Huntsinger and husband Keith of Asheville, N.C.; one stepson, Lawrence Melton and wife Pamela of Columbia, S.C.; one brother, Billy S. Jones Sr. and wife Bobbie of Ft. Gaines; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Ft. Gaines Presbyterian Church with Rev.Walter Flint officiating. Interment followed at Ebenezer Cemetery in Houston County, Ala. Pallbearers were Billy Jones Jr., Jerry Creel, Ricky Taylor,Wayne Moore, Benny Chandler and Dave McMinn.
Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
