Mumbles
Very few people in this country will forget where they were when those planes struck. There was some comfort in the resolve we mustered in the days that followed. But, look at us now ... a country whose quality of life and lives are being squandered by the greed and hate of partisan politics. While remembering those who lost their life that day, remember we are not what our forefathers had in mind when founded this country. ************* Keep your eye on the ball! Somewhere, sometime I had my hands on a book or article that took you back in time reviewing the front page headlines and articles in newspapers across the country at specific times in history. It then showed you the news items buried deep in the paper about the really important things happening simultaneously that would profoundly affect people's lives for years to come. The important stuff went unnoticed - sometimes because people simply took their eye off the ball, but most of the time by design by politicians, the media and industry. When the Georgia legislature convenes in January, Speaker Richardson's proposal to abolish property taxes and the political fighting which will accompany it is going to overshadow every other issue.
Keep your eye on the ball! There will be a state water plan. And it is going to impact Southwest Georgia's future much more than the failed tax proposal which will fill the headlines.
