ECHS seeks council member

Parent and community support is an important component of successful education reform.

Local school councils were created by law in Georgia to involve teachers, parents and business persons in local school issues focusing on student achievement. The members work together to aid and give input to educational programs and policies.

The ECHS School Council needs to appoint a business representative to serve a two-year term.

Due to changes in Georgia law, this business representative must also be a parent of a high school student.

The meetings are held every other month, the fourth Monday, at 6 p.m. in the high school conference room.

The council would like to know who is interested in serving in this position.

If you are willing to be considered, please contact the high school or any of the Council members.

They are principal, Irene Bush; teacher reps., Deeds Curry and Cheri Harrell; parent reps., Teddy Waller and Chelle Harrell; business rep., Leonard Alexander.

The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 24. Please submit your name before that time.
