Turn on the lights... It's time for football!
WARRIORS @ WESTWOOD Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.

The Southwest Georgia Academy Warriors will be looking to improve on last season's 4-6 record when this season gets underway. And their first opportunity to notch a win will be Thursday night when they travel to Camilla to play the Westwood Wildcats.

"Our kids have worked real hard during the off season," Warrior Coach David Bell stated. "When practice got underway they were pretty well climatized and the heat didn't bother us too much."

Bell noted that the Warriors were going to have a lot more depth at most positions than they have had the past two years. "And I think we're going to be better at the skill positions, too," he said.

And Warrior fans are going to begin seeing something they haven't seen much of in the past - size. "We have got some big sophomore and junior linemen coming along, a couple over 300 pounds," Bell stated. "We have got some linemen over 250 pounds who can move real good."

The Warrior defense is not quite at the point Bell would like to see. "But, they are going to get better. We have devoted a lot more time to offense, like we usually do. But, you have to do that early."

The Warriors' offensive depth chart looks like the following headed into the season opener - center: junior Boone Kennedy and freshman Carson Ray; left guard: junior Chandler Ray, freshman Jamison Burch and sophomore Ethan Cody; right guard: senior Blake Shepard, sophomore Nick Lawrance, sophmore Jamie Barton and freshman Preston Messer; left tackle: sophmore Taylor Arnold, junior Ethan Bundrick, freshman Matt Tatum and junior Jacob Jackson; right tackle: sophmore Austin Boyd, sophomore Paker Rentz, sophomore Chip Sanders and freshman Drew Sheffield; tight end: senior Beau Clenney, junior Alan Mock and sophomore Danny Doster; split end: junior Daniel Bayman, senior Michael Fincher, sophomore Andrew Stone, and freshmen Tanner Harrell and Sam Odom; quarterback: senior Drew Bridges, Stone and freshman Allen Gray; wingbacks: juniors Miles Lee and Keaton Smith followed by sophomore Weston Lee and freshmen Taylor Tabb and Cody Buckhalter; fullback: senior Alex Wilson, junior Will Brown and freshman Troupe Tabb.
