Mixin' the glitter & the kudzu
A lot of you have holiday vacation rituals which have grown into what Hank Jr. would call "a family tradition." And, there's that "call of the wild" that lures a lot of ya'll (read 'us') out onto dove fields on opening day of hunting season. However, this time around, if everything I've seen, heard and read is true, downtown Blakely is where you are going to want to be this Labor Day weekend. It sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun, and there's that intrigue about the movie folks, including a sprinklin' of stars, who are going to be in town. Remember how exciting it was a few years ago when you just "heard" that Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward had been in town? She was actually looking for the house she lived in when her father was principal here a few years. I happened to be out of town that day, or I could have shown it to her. It was the same house I grew up in. Hope to see you this weekend! *************** The Michael Vick case is one about which I have not fussed about the non-stop chatter by the talking heads on TV news channels. The fallen Atlanta Falcon quarterback has unwittingly brought the focus of attention on a problem that is among the worse displays of human behavior possible. I don't know Vick's fate, but I hope he is punished long and hard and I hope the pundits' focus on the dogfighting culture doesn't wane anytime soon! ************
