Judge sets dates for power plant appeal hearing
The News learned this week that dates have been set by an administrative law judge for hearing the appeal filed by the Friends of the Chattahoochee and the Sierra Club opposing the permits issued by EPD for construction of the Longleaf power plant in Early County.
In an order dated July 12, Judge Stephanie M. Howells set the hearing for Sept. 5, 6 and 7. She also set aside the dates of Sept. 17-21 if needed.
After hearing the appeal, Judge Howells will issue a decision by Nov. 16.
The parties to the appeal have been filing pre-hearing motions the past several weeks and will be filing exhibit lists and witness lists the next several weeks in preparation for the hearing.
