Harold D. Coates Retired Farmer Harold Dean Coates, 73, of Ft. Gaines died Monday, July 30, 2007, at Early Memorial Hospital. Mr. Coates was born in Clay County Dec. 28, 1933, to the late Posa Lee Coates and Ruby Killebrew Coates. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, a retired farmer and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in the Vietnam Conflict. Survivors include his wife, Louverne Eldridge Coates; two daughters, Gail Lockett and husband Ben and Velma Preston and husband Claude, all of Leesburg; two brothers, Leon Coates of Ft. Gaines and Dr. Graham Coates and wife Susan of Albany; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services are today, Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Slade Speir officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Richard Coates, Brent Coates, Nathan Hunt, Joe King, Kevin Davis, Jon Coates, Clay Hunt and Gary Hunt.
Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
