Starr - Norman vows exchanged

Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Grant Norman
Lacey Denise Starr and Emerson Grant Norman were united in marriage during a March 31, 2007, ceremony held at Westview United Methodist Church in Blakely. Dr. Edwin Willis, the bride's childhood pastor, officiated at the sixthirty evening ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Joel Starr Jr. of Blakely. She is the granddaughter of Lois Barefield and the late William Alvin Barefield of Oakwood, Ga., and Aline Starr and the late Clifford Joel Starr Sr. of Blakely.

The groom is the son of Robert Bessman Norman of Lincolnton, Ga., and Catherine Lynn McNeil of North Augusta, S.C. He is the grandson of the late Col. and Mrs. William Anderson Cauthen of Washington, Ga., and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Allen Norman of Lincolnton, Ga.

Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore an elegant strapless trumpet style gown. The neckline was a scalloped sweetheart and the hem of the dress was scalloped as well. The gown was made with exquisite hand beading and blush hand cut lace that hugged the body with a flared skirt and a cathedral train. The dress was complimented with a circle fingertip veil. The bride carried a bouquet of white hydrangea, light pink roses and pink and white ranunculus.

Ashley Starr Jones, cousin of the bride, served as matron of honor with Kristen Louise Payne, friend of the bride, serving as maid of honor. Theresa Light Critchfield, Ashley Day Howard, April Shivers Williams and Leah Phillips Williams, all friends of the bride, and Megan Leigh Everson, cousin of the bride, served as bridesmaids. Sara Parker Ware, friend of the bride, served as flower girl. The bridesmaids wore pink satin faced taffeta tea-length dresses with a bow at the natural waist with a brooch accent. The bridesmaids carried bouquets of green hydrangea and bright pink roses.

Robert Bessman Norman, father of the groom, served as best man. Gene Russell Goldman, John Michael Mannix, Kevin Farrell Palmer and Robert Adam Williams, all friends of the groom, and Kyle Walton Everson and Adam Dexter Starr, cousins of the bride, served as groomsmen. William Noah Jones, cousin of the bride, and William Adiel Ware, friend of the bride, served as ring bearers.

Saralyn Stewart, friend of the bride, served as vocalist and Sharon Hunt, pianist, provided wedding music. Sydney Katherine Redding, friend of the bride, and Clara Beth Lightsey, cousin of the bride, served as program attendants. The wedding was directed by Ashley Collier of Blakely.

Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a reception at the Blakely Town and Country Club. Entertainment was provided by Bell and Lane Acoustic Duo of Blakely with two special performances including the bride's cousins, Kyle Everson and Adam Starr. The night ended with a beautiful fireworks display courtesy of Mr. and Mrs. Curt Smith of Columbia, Ala., both cousins of the bride. Other weekend activities included a rehearsal dinner hosted by the groom's parents at Funny Girl Cafe in Blakely.

Following a week long honeymoon in Bora Bora, the couple returned to their current residence in Boston, Mass. The bride is a tax consultant for the accounting firm KPMG and the groom is an assistant manager for the venture capital firm HarbourVest Partners.
