Washington High School alumni meet for banquet

The Washington High Alumni Association held its regularly scheduled banquet July 6 at the Early County High School. The theme was "It is good to see you again."

Get reacqauinted hour was from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The program started at 7 p.m. with dynamic speaker Michaela Farmer, who is minister of the Church of the Living God International Inc. and daughter of Wallace and Bertha O'Neal. A skit was presented entitled "Blakely's Bottom" featuring stories of lives of some living legends in Blakely. Ozetta and Henry Mills and Hortense Alexander Whindleton played parts in the skit.

There was an overflow crowd in attendance with class members coming from all over the United States.

The classmates had a parade that looked something like the ones from the Washington High days July 7 at 10 a.m.

The parade originated at the now defunct Washington High School campus and toured the city ending back at the campus.

A business meeting was held at 1 p.m. at the Wesley Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church.

The same officers were elected to serve for the next two-year term. The Washington High Alumni Association Reunion will be July 3 and 4, 2009.

A gospel extravaganza Saturday night at the Mount Olive Baptist Church with several groups from the area performing brought the weekend to a close.
