Online payments coming
City ready to swipe those utility bills

Blakely utility customers can now pay their monthly utility bills with credit cards. City Clerk Melinda Crook told Blakely City Council members at their July 3 meeting that a credit card machine was up and running at city hall. The city is also working towards setting up a system for bills to be paid online.

In other business, the council was asked to study recommendations for expanding the city's central business district which now includes the Square and the area which includes current boundaries of Murdock Street to the north, Bob White and Columbia to the south, Church Street to the west and Singletary, Magnolia and North Bay Street to the East. Council members were also asked to submit names to consider for appointments for vacancies on the Downtown Development Authority.
