Lt. Gov. Cagle speaks at Boy Scout breakfast

Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle
Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle compared the importance of scouting to the impressions made on him as a high school student athlete when he had an opportunity to attend a national convention of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

His pastor's compassion also left a lasting impression when he wrote a check to cover the young man's expenses for the convention. Raised by a single mom, Cagle otherwise wouldn't have been able to able to make the trip, and those impressions would've never helped shape his life.

The Lt. Gov. was introduced by Senator John Bulloch.

The two elected officials highlighted the First Annual Blakely Area of Friends Scouting Breakfast in the fellowship hall at the First United Methodist Church attended by approximately 100 people Friday morning.

The breakfast was part of a fund raising effort to support the Chehaw Council's new Southwest Georgia Council which will serve the following counties: Early, Baker, Mitchell, Calhoun, Clay and Miller.

Communities in each of these counties are holding fund raising events in an effort to hire a full time scouting executive to serve the district. Friday's fundraising breakfast raised $9,500.

Senator John Bulloch
District Scout Executives Aaron Bensonhaver and Ray Allen also participated on the program.
