$4,000 arson conviction award
James Swindell with Georgia Arson Control in association with the Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commission and Rod Williams with the State Fire Marshall's office, presented a check to Blakely Fire Chief Kenneth Jones Tuesday. Georgia Arson Control offers rewards up to $10,000 for convicting information in arson cases. The funds for the rewards come from insurance companies and no public money is involved. "We have given away over $1,304,000 since 1979," Swindell stated. "Initially the cap for rewards was $2,500 and today it is $10,000."
Georgia Arson Control maintains a hotline for the Georgia Fire Marshall's office and any information obtained is referred to local authorities. Help eliminate arson today by calling the hotline at 1-800-282-5804.
