Lisa Renee Hilton of Edison graduated summa cum laude with honors from the University of Georgia Saturday, May 12 with a bachelor of science degree in biology and a minor in Spanish. She will begin medical school at the Medical College of Georgia this fall. Renee is the daughter of Lamar and Lisa Hilton of Edison and the granddaughter of Betty Hilton and the late Ralph Hilton of Edison, Billy and Eleanor Harris of Shellman, and Jim Turner of Morgan. Hollis Wyatt Rish of Arlington, graduated May 12 from the University of Georgia college of agricultural and environmental sciences with a bachelor of science degree in agricultural engineering with an emphasis on electrical engineering. He has been accepted into Georgia Power's engineering training program and will be employed as a distribution engineer in Gainesville, Ga. Rish is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Rish of Arlington and the grandson of Dorothy Rish of Edison and Ethelyn Bryan of Patmos. Rish is a 2002 graduate of Southwest Georgia Academy. ABAC Vice president and dean of academic affairs Caroline Helms has announced the names of 206 students who have been selected for the distinguished achievement list for the 2007 spring term at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Quinton T. Godfrey Jr. of Damascus was named to the distinguished achievement list. Students who complete between six and 11 hours of academic course work with a grade point average of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale are recognized on this list. Georgia Southwestern State University The following local students have earned the honor of being placed on the dean's list for spring semester 2007 by taking 15 hours of courses and earning a 3.5 grade point average. Mischa M. Powell and Candis L. Hayes were named to the dean's list. Students who made the academic achievement list for spring semester 2007 by being enrolled in three to 14 hours of courses, and earning a 3.5 or higher grade point average were: Mysin N. Harris, Hannah M. McBroom, Samuel A. White, Kay G. Willis and Cayman L. Adams. Mysin N. Harris was a spring 2007 graduate. Shorter College Audrey Layne Crocker of Blakely has been named to the Shorter College dean's list for the spring 2007 semester. The dean's list honors students who earn a minimum of 12 semester hours and hold at least a 3.5 grade point average for the term. Bainbridge College Bainbridge College vicepresident of academic affairs Dr. Rob Gingras has announced the names of students who earned the distinction of being named to the dean's list and those named to the honors list for spring semester 2007. Those named to the dean's list must have earned a 3.5 grade point average or higher while attending BC full-time. Honors list students must earn a 3.5 or higher GPA while attending BC on a part-time basis. The following students were named to the dean's list in the Early County area. Shlisa Kayll Echols Freeman has successfully completed the program for phlebotomy technician at Bainbridge College and was named to the president's list for spring semester.
