Hall chosen to head Early County Schools

Kenneth Hall
The Early County Board of Education named Kenneth Hall the new superintendent at a special meeting Tuesday morning. Hall will replace Betty Orange who announced her retirement to the board in January.

"I'm glad to be back," Hall told the News Tuesday. "I look forward to being a part of a group working to improve education."

Hall made a career in education, retiring from the Early County School System in December 2002. He served three years as vice president of operations for Albany Technical College's Early County campus after retiring from the school system.

He is presently interim president of the Blakely-Early County Chamber of Commerce.

"We look forward to working with Mr. Hall," stated BOE chairman William Davis. "I especially look forward to working with him in partnering with Bainbridge College to re-establish a strong vocational program for our students."

Hall began with the Early County School System in 1971 as a social studies teacher, moved to assistant principal and then principal of Early County High in 1987. In October of 2002, Hall joined the Albany Technical College team as evening administrator of the Early County campus.

Hall has a master of science degree and sixyear certification, both in school administration, from Troy State University. He is married to the former Sharon Arnold; they have two children.

Betty Orange was a part of the Early County School System for over 30 years.

"I am filled with gratitude to the Early County School System for such a fulfilling and rewarding career opportunity," Orange said in a statement in January. "I hope we remain committed to doing all that we can to make sure our students are given every opportunity to achieve success."

There will be a reception honoring Betty Orange June 7 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Middle School cafeteria.
