Lisa Jo's dream
Just three weeks ago the 18-year-old daughter of Henry and Mary Williams was on a med-evac helicopter fighting for her life. Lisa Jo suffers from a vascular disorder called recurrent cavernous-venous malformation of the brain. The malformations of arteries cause lesions to form on the brain. Since the age of four, she has undergone five brain surgeries, but she hasn't let that or the pain associated with the disease get in the way of her dreams. The girl voted "friendliest" by her classmates has been so determined to graduate with her class that she postponed her sixth brain surgery to be at Standifer Field last Saturday. That surgery is now scheduled for May 29. Mary Williams shakes her head and smiles when asked about Lisa Jo. She speaks of her daughter's deep faith, of her spirit and determination. She tells about Lisa Jo's love for fishing and hunting and how she bagged an 8-point buck this deer season. Mary Williams also talks of the Early County School System and how the teachers and administrators worked so hard to help Lisa Jo at each step of her education. "They deserve a special thanks," she said. And, Mary Williams speaks of prayer, of her own, of her family's and of the many prayers she knows have been offered throughout the community on Lisa Jo's behalf. She asks that those prayers continue, especially on May 29 when Lisa Jo faces her sixth brain surgery.
"Please say her name."
