Harris to graduate at Fort Valley

The president, faculty, and graduating class of Fort Valley State University announce that Kyle Quinton Harris is candidate for the bachelor's of arts degree in history, magna cum laude. Commencement exercises will be Saturday, May 5, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. in the FVSU Health and Physical Education Complex.

During Harris' senior year at Fort Valley State University, he has excelled in academics and extracurricular activities. He is an active member of the Phi Alpha Theta International History Honor Society serving as secretary. He also holds membership in the Alpha Kappa Mu Academic Honor Society, and Pi Mu Gamma Social Science Honor Society. He was also selected for the National Dean's List 2006-2007, and honored for academic excellence at FVSU's 56th Annual Honor's Convocation.

Harris is involved in many FVSU and community organizations. He is currently FVSU's Student Government Association (SGA) vice president, 2006- 2007 and FVSU Student Ambassador. He is also a member of the FVSU Baptist Student Union Praise Team, Gospel Choir, and Evangelistic Ministries. He is an active member of the FVSU Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and holds membership in the FSVU Optimist Club. He is an affiliate member of the St. Peter's African Methodist Episcopal Church of Fort Valley where he is active in the adult Sunday school class, Sons of Allen Ministry, Young People's Division and mass choir. He also serves as a shift manger at Fort Valley McDonalds. All the while, he stabilized a grade point average of 3.65.

Kyle Quinton Harris is the son of Eric and Willie Mae Harris. He is also the grandson of Willie B. and Millie Smith and Norma T. Harris and the late Charles Harris all of Blakely Georgia.
