Authorities searching for armed robbery suspects

Two armed robbers make off with over $6,000 Monday morning.
Local authorities are searching for two suspects believed to be involved in an armed robbery of the Family Dollar store early Monday morning.

Authorities received a call from store manager Yolanda Graham between 8:30 and 9 o'clock that morning. Graham reported she had just been robbed.

According to the incident report, Officer Sam Eaton was the first to arrive at the scene and was told by Graham that the suspect, a white male in a black sweatshirt and jeans, had fled out the back door.

Eaton was unable to locate a suspect. A Harvey's employee who had been in the vicinity of the front of both stores told Eaton he had not seen anything out of the ordinary and had not seen anyone fitting the description of the robber.

Employees in the cemetery behind the stores reportedly did not see anyone, either.

Graham told investigators at the scene that there were two robbers, one a white male and the other unknown, both wearing stockings over their heads.

Graham told officers that shortly after arriving at the store one of the robbers came into the store office with a gun demanding she give him the money and open the safe, which she did.

The robbers reportedly fled the store with two green bank bags, two red bank bags and rolled coins totaling almost $6,000. They also took $300 of Graham's money from her purse.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about this robbery to contact investigator Tim Hardrick at the Early County Sheriff's office at 229-723-3158.
