Let the Bible Speak
Facing uncertain times with an almighty God
Rev. Fred Daniels

This year, as last year, will be full of uncertainty. There will be times when we are faced with unexpected problems. We may plan for the weeks and months to come, but only God knows what the year will hold.

Do we make plans? Yes. Then we must pray and trust God for daily grace, guidance and strength to run the course before us daily. The surest way to run without "beating the air" without plans or direction is to run on the solid rock of the Lord, with the wind of the Spirit against our back, and the sound of his voice against our ear.

You will not run well carrying last year's burdens that need to be cast upon the Lord, sins that you refused to allow God to forgive, grudges, unforgiveness and bitterness that should have been plucked up by the root and replaced with forgiveness and love.

You will need endurance and perseverance to get through difficult times. Let's face it - life gets rough. Money is hard to keep, jobs are hard to come by, marriages are rocking and rolling, mates are drinking and drugging, kids are rebellious. Tough times may be part of God's plan for you this year. Don't get discouraged - stay in the race!

Focus on Jesus. Do not allow tough times to distract you from confidently placing your trust in him and relying upon his grace to sustain you. God is not puzzled about what you will face and the solution will be there at the right moment.

Prayer: Lord, I will not fear what a day will bring when I bring you in it with me.
