Now is time to move those junk vehicles
That headline was intended to alert readers with junk vehicles in their yards that those junk vehicles may begin costing them money the longer they sat there. The headline for this article could also be "chi-chang!," but for another reason.With the rise in scrap metal prices those piles of junk can bring the owners a tidy sum of cash when disposed of. Most scrap metal prices hit "alltime record highs" last year and, according to some sources, the prices for some metals remain twice what it was two years ago. By definition, junked vehicle means any wrecked or non-operable automobile, truck or any vehicle which does not bear a license plate. While authorities and owners have disposed of a large number of junk vehicles over the past year, there are still a lot of junked and wrecked vehicles scattered about the city and county. And those junk vehicles are in violation of local codes which make it... "unlawful for the owner, operator or occupant of a dwelling, rooming house, building or structure to use the premises of such property for the open storage of any junked vehicles, appliances, glass, building material, building trash or similar items. It's not just junk vehicles putting money in peoples pockets.
Junked appliances - air conditioners, freezers, refrigerators, washers, dryers, lawn mowers, etc. - all have components bringing top dollar at scrap yards.
