Fuel tank explosion kills Arlington man Sixteen year-old Milus Brackins of Arlington is clinging to life in an Augusta hospital with burns over most of his body. "They say he is in stable condition," Milus' aunt, Linda Hunter, told the News Tuesday. "But, it's going to be a long road to recovery." Hank W. Brackins, 26, was welding skids onto a fuel tank on the family farm just outside Arlington late one afternoon last week when the tank exploded. Milus' father, Jessie, was walking toward the barn where Hank was working when the explosion happened. "He was able to pull Milus out and get the flames out by rolling him on the ground, but couldn't help Hank," Hunter stated. "He then put Milus in the truck and rushed him to the hospital." Milus' brother, Kentavious, 17, was also at the scene of the explosion, but was not injured. Milus, a student at Calhoun County High School, was flown to the Augusta Burn Center with burns of one degree or another over 90 percent of his body. Cards can be sent to Milus in care of his parents, Jessie and Tessie Brackins, Room B7, St Joseph M. Still Burn Center, Doctors Hospital, 3651 Wheeler Rd, Augusta, GA 30909. Another fiery accident Glenn Turnage of Turnage Tractor Parts on the Fort Gaines highway was also flown to the Augusta Burn Center last week. Turnage was cutting an engine out of a cotton picker Thursday morning when his torch hit a pressurized hydraulic hose. He suffered burns to his hands, arms and face from the resulting flash fire.
Following several skin grafts, he returned home Sunday where he is recovering from his burns.
