Nathan Dallas visits ECES, SGA students March 21

Nathan Dallas entertains students with stories and demonstrations regarding oral health.
Nathan Dallas, native of Arlington and senior dental student at the Medical College of Georgia, spent part of his recent internship talking to elementary students at Early County Elementary and Southwest Georgia Academy about the importance of oral health.

"Dr. Nate" entertained the children on March 21 with humorous stories and videos while demonstrating some very important fundamentals about oral health.

Both kindergarten and first grade classes participated in the programs at Early County Elementary. The first through fifth grades took part at SGA, where Dallas graduated in 1998.

The children at both schools were very excited about the special visit.

The students were all taught proper brushing techniques and told about the dangers of excess sugar. Special attention was given to the topic of carbonated soft drinks and how they affect tooth enamel.

Nathan plans to make a return trip to both schools in April when he can speak to the teenage students about additional health issues.

"Teenagers are a high risk age group for numerous oral problems these days," according to the young dentist to be. The topics on these visits will include the dangers of smokeless tobacco, oral piercings and destructive habits such as poor diet, eating disorders and drug use.

Dr. Nate, his wife, Sunni, and their son, Jax, will move to Blakely after graduation in May. He will begin practicing dentistry with his father Dr. Jay Dallas at Dallas Dental Care in Arlington.
