- On Court Square Friday - Relay for Life

After 12 years, the Court Square will be the new venue for this year's Relay for Life Friday. The past Relay for Life activities have taken place at Early County High's Standifer Field.

"Everyone thought the move to Court Square would be good for the event," stated Relay for Life chairman Kenneth Hall. "It's centrally located and a number of the merchants are planning to remain open that evening."

Opening ceremonies will begin Friday on Court Square at 7 p.m., followed by the Survivor Lap around Court Square and the Survivor Reception.

The Luminary Ceremony will be 9 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Activities will come to an end with the Closing Ceremony at 1 a.m. Saturday morning.

The evening will be full of activities, Relay Team events and entertainment.

The Creative Themes and Campsite Judging will be at 7:30 p.m. followed by the Great American Smoke Off at 8:30 p.m.

There will be a No Talent Talent Show dubbed Blakely Idle at 9:30 p.m.

A Paper Airplane Flight contest begins at 10:30 p.m., a Balloon Relay at 11:30 p.m. and a Tug of War at 12:30 a.m.

The Early Arrivals will kickoff the entertainment with a musical show betweem 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Breanna Bush and Josh Skipper will perform between 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., and Will Wiley, Hannah Scarborough and Savannah Smith will perform from 11 a.m. and 11:30 p.m.
