BOE adopts SPLOST resolution

The Early County Board of Education met Tuesday, March 13 at 9 a.m. at the middle school.

In old business, after reviewing bids from Terminix, Adams Exterminators and Arrow Exterminators for services to the middle school, the board approved the Terminix proposal and authorized the superintendent to discuss contract additions for other facilities in the system.

In new business, school attorney Bill Mills reviewed and discussed SPLOST renewal resolutions with the board and clarified the next steps for the project. The board approved the resolution. (An article about BOE SPLOST list appeared in last week's News.)

John Stringfield and Trey Brock of Southern Management made a presentation to the board regarding privatized custodial services, including basic lawn care. Cost estimate will be provided to the board at a later date.

The board approved a Relay for Life fundraiser by ECMS and approved football camp dates of Aug. 9 through Aug. 11.

Revised sick leave policies for professional and classified personnel were approved as was a revised professional personnel transfer policy. The board also approved a purchase of 30 laptop computers for the middle school to be paid with SPLOST funds.

The superintendent recognized board members and their contributions to ECCSS and noted the observance of School Board Appreciation Week. She also reminded those present of the ribbon cutting at the recreation complex Saturday.
