Fire Department personnel complete training
Lt. Eddy Burdette and Sgt. Glynn Floyd of the City of Blakely Fire Department have successfully completed the National Standardized Child Passenger Safety Training Program to become certified technicians. As technicians, they will be able to assist and train individuals in the proper installation of a child safety seat.
Many child seats in this community, as in others, are installed incorrectly. This gives the adults a false sense of security and safety for the child. It is important to ensure correct sizing of the safety seat as well as proper installation for the children of the community.
The check involves the technician installing the seat, then removing and assisting and teaching the owner with installation. The process should take approximately 30 minutes. The Blakely Fire Department will begin making appointments March 1, to check seats. Contact the fire department for a date and time to be checked.
