Mumbles
As I sat down to the computer a few minutes ago I would have sworn I remember us first switching over back in the 1960s. But, when I Googled it up (there's that word again that wasn't a word too long ago), I learned otherwise. Well, some of us still grumble about having to change our clocks or the trouble we have adjusting our sleeping habits. For the most part, however, we seemed to have adjusted quite well to changing back and forth. Until now. About the time we think we got this DST figured out, they go and change it on us. That's what this is all about. I'm warning you ahead of time! Now that we are used to "springing forward" at 2 a.m. on the first Sunday in April we have got to remember to do it the second Sunday in March! And, we won't "fall back" until the first Sunday in November. That's a full four weeks of extra DST. Thirty extra hours of daylight! Well, not exactly. They would have been there anyway, they would've just been first thing in the morning where a lot of us would've missed a lot of them. They say daylight savings saves energy. They also say Benjamin Franklin was the first person to conceive the idea in 1784. Wonder what he had on his mind? They didn't have energy to save in those days. Don't know how much energy it saves around my house now, some 223 years later. Those extra hours of daylight do come in handy finishing up that list of "honey do's," however. ************
