All That's Fit to Print Anna Nicole Smith may or may not be buried by the time you read this. As of Tuesday morning, she was still in a cooler in Florida. Smith died Feb. 8 and now, 20 days later, she's still waiting for someone to finally let her rest in peace. Last week, it appeared that Anna Nicole would be buried in the Bahamas in a grave next to her son's. But, her mother made a legal move to stop that. She wants her in Texas. In the mother's legal appeal, it was noted that having Anna Nicole buried in the Bahamas would be an inconvenience since it would require the mother to have a passport and plane ticket to visit her daughter's grave. I wonder how many times she traveled from Texas to California to visit her daughter when she was alive. It's not an April Fool's joke. A letter this week announced that the newspaper that once covered "Dixie like the dew" won't. The Atlanta Journal Constitution announced the daily newspaper will now cease home and newsstand delivery to our neck of the woods beginning April 1. I'm guessing the paper will still be available online and the letter mentioned mail subscriptions being available. Of course, the paper will arrive a day late. There's no news like old news. It was announced Monday that first class postage is increasing by two cents. Of course it is. I just bought stamps. It was also announced that "forever" stamps might soon be available. Those stamps would be good forever. While such an idea sounds like a good deal, I can't help but remember someone saying "nothing lasts forever." Still, even at 41 cents, a stamp is a pretty good deal when you think about it. I don't know of any cheaper or easier way to get a letter from here to the other side of the country. I'm not counting email. That's a horse of a different color. Speaking of horses, I don't yet have a pony in the presidential rodeo. I will say this - a poll on Monday put Al Gore right behind Hillary and Obama. How scary is that? I'm guessing that the fact that a documentary he narrated won an Oscar moved him up the polls. Now that is scary. One news commentator noted Monday night how interesting it was that the people who are so busy telling the rest of us how we are ruining the environment travel in individual limousines, fly on private jets and live in estates that consume massive amounts of electricity. Someone did note that Al Gore uses environmentally friendly paper plates. What a guy.
And finally, a little salute to my friend, Barbara, on her retirement. Thanks for the memories.
