BECR All-Stars travel to state

The Blakely-Early County Recreation Department sent two teams to All-Stars this year for basketball.
The 11-12 All-Star team rode to Unadilla Friday night to defeat Adel in the first round. Saturday afternoon, the All-Stars defeated Macon County to advance to the district championship against Fitzgerald. The team was led in scoring throughout the tournament by Jacori Taylor who had 38 points in the Macon County game alone.
All-Star players were Ladonis Bryant, Rhodes Collier, Dontavious Favors, Brakari Isom, Antonio Jackson, Caleb Morrell, Shaquel Severson, Jacori Taylor, Andrea Tinson and Kendarius Williams.
Coach Andrew Tinson said, "This is a great bunch of kids who have played hard. Seven All-Stars out of the ten played for the state title in 2005 when I last coached the All-Stars." The team travels to Jefferson to compete in the state tournament Friday and Saturday.
The 10 and under team was coached by Dale McCoy and played Saturday Feb. 24 against Fitzgerald where they were defeated. The players were Montrez Davis, Richie Smith, Jr., Kendarius George, Timothy Hardrick, DJ Lewis, Kalin McDaniel, Tynicia McCoy, Durrell Summerset, Tia Taylor and Dentavious Thorton.
