Cagle names Bulloch to fiscal subcommittee

Bulloch
Lt. Governor Casey Cagle has appointed State Senator John Bulloch to the Fiscal Affairs Subcommittee of the Georgia State Senate.

The subcommittee will have the authority to approve transfer of appropriated funds from one agency or program to another.

Currently, the governor, to ease a shortfall in one program, would have to wait until the General Assembly reconvened or call a special session. The subcommittee along with one in the House of Representatives will have the authority to hold hearings on the subject, outside of the normal General Assembly session, and authorize the governor's request.

"My good friend Senator Bulloch has consistently shown leadership and worked hard to represent his constituents well and that is why I appointed him to the Senate Fiscal Affairs Subcommittee. He will make a great addition to the committee and I look forward to all they will accomplish," said Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle.

"This is an honor to be appointed to serve on this subcommittee," said Sen. Bulloch. "I look forward to this challenge but it is a challenge that I hope we don't have to use to often. Most times we would meet would be in the face of a funding crisis for some of our most important programs like PeachCare or education."

Sen. Bulloch represents Early, Colquitt, Decatur, Grady, Miller, and Seminole Counties and a portion of Mitchell and Thomas Counties in the Georgia General Assembly.

He is the Chairman of the Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee in the Georgia Senate and a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee.
