      Latoya Wimberly and Benja Wimberly II of Blakely are proud to announce the birth of their son, Tylan Travon Wimberly, born Dec. 7, 2006, at 12:21 p.m. at the Donalsonville Women and Children's Center. Tylan weighed 7 pounds 9 ounces and was 20 inches long.

Queens visit nursing home
      The Miss Early County Queens celebrated Valentine's Day Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, exchanging valentine's cards and enjoying refreshments. The queens wrapped up their day by delivering "goodies" to the staff and valentine cards to the residents of Early Memorial Nursing Home.

'The Bottom' to be presented at Mangham Auditorium
      "The Bottom," a play written by Curtis William of Albany, will be performed at Mangham Auditorium Thursday, Feb. 22 at 9:55 a.m. The play tells real life accounts of Blakely residences and has been performed in New York City at the U.N. and in Tuskegee at Kellogg Hall.

Grand opening at Jerry's
      Like Hank Williams Jr., Jerry Scarborough was just carryin' on an old family tradition when he recently opened Jerry's Country Meats in Arlington. Both his father, John, and uncle, Ralph, were both longtime and respected grocers and meat-cutters in Blakely.
