Buddy Gentry
Telephone Installer

Harold Sprouse "Buddy" Gentry, 73, of Blakely, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, at his home.

Mr. Gentry was born in Early County, June 4, 1933, to the late Junius Clay Gentry and Pearl Sprouse Gentry. He was a retired telephone installer for Georgia Telephone Co. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Clay County where he was a deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Howard Gentry of Blakely; four daughters, Pam Murphy and husband Billy of Sharpsburg, Cindy Holland and husband Bill of Dothan, Lisa Burgamy and husband David of Columbus and Jill Medley and husband Dwayne of Hodgesville, Ala.; one son, Tony Gentry and wife Pam of Blakely; three sisters, Mable Craft of Blakely, Nadine Cheek and husband Melvin of Senoia, Ga., and Nell Newberry and husband Jack of Donalsonville; one brother, Don Gentry and wife Dot of Marietta; one sister-in-law, Patricia Gentry of Blakely; and 10 grandchildren, Samuel Murphy, Elizabeth Holland, Caleb Holland, Hannah Holland, Matthew Burgamy, Rebecca Burgamy, Andrea Brown, Jason Gentry, Dillon Medley and Hunter Medley.

Funeral services were Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Slade Speirs and Rev. Mike Lee officiating. Interment followed in Pine Lawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Richard Coates, David Shivers, Harold Lewis, Ewell Jarrett, Joe King, Clay Hunt and Bill Cleveland.

Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
