FCCLA members travel to state capitol
On Tuesday, Feb. 6 the Early County chapter of the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America rose early to travel to the state capitol in Atlanta.

FCCLA officers had a picture session with Gov. Perdue at the capitol.
Departing from the high school at 6:00 a.m., 20 students, along with advisers Tonja Bridges and Shanice Richardson, headed north to represent Early County.

One of FCCLA's eight purposes is to encourage democracy through the home and community. Early County High's visit to the capitol did just that as they met with the highly cordial and supportive Rep. Gerald Greene. In this meeting, the students discussed classroom learning activities and were informed of current events in the state legislature. State officers Willie Wimberly and Savannah Smith, and Youth Leadership Board member Malanie Love presented Rep. Greene with information about the organization.

These officers had a picture session with Gov. Sonny Perdue, along with the 1500 other students across the state.

They later spoke to schools across the state about the duties of FCCLA officers and opportunities the organization presents. The weather permitted beautiful travel for the students of Early County High, and the exposure to downtown Atlanta and the beautiful capitol building allowed the students to gain exposure to Georgia's democratic government system.
