Registration for spring sports underway at Recreation Department
Youth baseball, softball and tee ball registration began Monday, Jan. 22 and concludes Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 5 p.m. Female participants must be five years old and not over 17 years old by Jan. 1, 2007. Male participants must be five years old and not over 17 by May 1, 2007. The registration fee for children ages 5-17 is $30. Out-ofcounty registrants will be charged an additional "out-of-county" fee of $5 per child. Registration will only be accepted with both payment and a copy of the birth certificate at the recreation department at 1656 North Main Street in Blakely. Registration forms are available at local schools, the recreation office and online at www.becrd.com.
Officials, scorekeepers, concession workers and park supervisors are needed. Applications must be returned in person at the Recreation Department office between noon and 5 p.m. Applications are available online at www.becrd. com.
Sponsorship information for 2007 for youth teams is now available at the recreation office or from the website. For more information on registration, job listings or sponsorship, please call 723-3197.
Are you interested in making some additional money? Do you enjoy sports? Are you interested in becoming certified as a Georgia High School Association official? GHSA officials officiate local high school ballgames and recreation tournaments. The recreation department is now determining the local interest in this program. If enough interest is present, the department will begin certification clinics.
