Commissioners address short agenda The Early County Board of Commissioners met Monday night at the county administration building. A short agenda was addressed. County attorney Bill Mills presented his report to commissioners including updates on the county's pending legal matters. The commissioners discussed a vacancy on the planning commission and agreed to offer names for consideration at the March meeting. In other county business, the commissioners discussed talking with the probate judge and tax commissioner in response to citizens' requests that the offices stay open during the noon hour. Commissioners Wiggins and Jarrett were appointed to meet with the parties. Brian Cresswell appeared before the commissioners asking for an increase in county support of the extension office. In order to readvertise for the position vacated by Terri Cameron, the county must provide $12,000 which is an increase from the $6,800 the state required in the past. The commissioners approved the request. Commissioner Hank Jester gave an update on the recreation complex project and requested approval for final roadwork at the project. He said the fields would be ready for play this spring.
Road department requests included work on Chalker Williams Road, Freeman Courthouse Road and Union Road.
