Thelma Lane

Thelma Hicks Wiley Lane, 91, of Blakely died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007, at Early Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Lane was born in Geneva, Ala., Feb. 27, 1915, to the late Rev. Millard Hicks and Mary Ann Coleman Hicks.

She was a member of Zion Freewill Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Gordon Lane and Lester Ray Wiley Sr.; three sons, Billy Wiley, Lester Ray Wiley Jr., and Douglas Wiley; two sisters, Dale English and Florence Sasser; and three brothers, Richard Hicks Sr., Selma Hicks, and Dan Hicks.

Survivors include two daughters-in-law, Patsy Wiley and Linda Wiley, both of Blakely; one brother, Millard Hicks, 10 grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Zion Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Darrell Newberry officiating. Interment followed at Sowhatchee Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Rocky Davis, Joshua Harrell, Nick Gordon, Brandon DeVaughn, Phillip Wiley, and Shane Wiley.

Honorary pallbearers were David Still, Cyril English, Ralph Ellis, Milton Anderson, Bobby Davis, and Terry Ferguson.

Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
