DOT announces traffic shift north of Colquitt

Georgia DOT recently announced that a traffic shift on U.S. 27 SR 1 at M.P. 14.1 north of Colquitt is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, January 25.

At that time, traffic will be shifted from the existing lanes of U.S. 27 SR 1 to the newly constructed lanes .2 of a mile south of Johnson-Miller Rd. and run in a northerly direction for approximately two miles tying back in .3 of a mile north of the Miller- Early County Line, to allow Oxford Construction Company of Albany, to continue into the next phase of construction.

Motorists traveling on this section of U.S. 27, SR 1 should slow down, be alert and pay special attention to all work zone signs, pavement markings, traffic control devices and changing traffic patterns.

The U.S.27/ SR1 project in Miller County includes 9.867 miles of widening and reconstruction consisting of grading, drainage, base and plant mix paving on US 27/SR 1 beginning at SR 45 and extending to CR 279; also includes realignment of New Hope Rd. and Sandy Bottom Rd.

The Georgia Department of Transportation seeks to provide information to the traveling public about traffic obstructions on Georgia's interstates and state routes in order that motorists may travel safely and efficiently on our systems. Drivers are encouraged to use the services provided at GDOT's Traffic Management Center. Operators are on duty 24/7 to provide traffic information, answer questions and alert motorists to any traffic interruptions that may occur.
