International Education Week at BC The focus at Bainbridge College Early County Site and Main Campus in Bainbridge takes an international perspective Jan. 22-26 as the college community celebrates International Education Week. Events during the week are open to the public at no charge and include: + Talk on Education in China by BC faculty member Dr.Yu Zhang at 2 p.m. Jan. 23 in Room 141. After the talk, those who attend can have their names written in Chinese. + International Fashion Show, Jan. 24 at 2:15 p.m. in the Lobby. Fashions from Africa, China, India, Iran, Japan, Russia, Spain and Thailand. After the show, Malanie Love, joint-enrolled BC student, will talk about being an exchange student in Japan - she had a starring role at Tokyo's Disney World! A Foreign Film Festival will run Thursday in Room 141: Discovering the USA at 10:00 a.m.; Vietnam's Unseen War at 11:30 a.m.; Tropical Kingdom of Belize at 1:15 p.m. and Himalayan River Run, 2:30 p.m. Throughout the week study abroad information will be available in the lobby and there are displays in the library and throughout the building with items from other counties. This seventh annual celebration's theme is International Education: Engaging Global Partnerships and Opportunities. Proclaiming International Education Week, BC President Dr. Tom Wilkerson invited the public to participate in the diverse activities and programs planned. He noted it is an opportunity to recognize and affirm the languages, customs, cultures, and societies that comprise the human family and is "an occasion to remember the value of international understanding and experience as an investment in our future."
"As Bainbridge College undertakes to expand and strengthen its global linkages, it is especially fitting that we launch our own celebration of the interconnections and common concerns that bind the peoples and countries of the world together," Dr. Wilkerson said.
