Mobile home permits double traditional housing in '06

The Early County Code Enforcement report for 2006 shows mobile home permits continue to outpace traditional home permits by more than two to one.

In 2006, 66 permits were issued for mobile homes compared to 26 for constructed homes. Permits for 44 additions to homes were issued and 39 electrical hook-ups were issued. A total of 192 permits were issued last year.

This compares to 2005 totals which included 67 mobile homes, 18 homes and 28 additions.

Sixteen minor subdivisions were permitted. A minor subdivision permit is required when any parcel of land is divided.

One permit for a wireless tower was issued.

In addition to issuing permits, the county code enforcement office reported 44 junk vehicles removed. Citations issued included five for junk vehicles, seven for illegal dumping and 19 for littering for a total of 31 citations for the year. In 2005, 26 code violations were reported.

Fees for permits issued totaled $7,490. Junkyard permits totaled $2,000 and fines from citations totaled $2,606 for a total of $12,096.
