ERIC BENTLEY was named the new assistant park manager at Kolomoki Mounds State Park.

AT THE first meeting of the new Board of Commissioners the four new members joining returning Commissioner Sid Jones at the table were Buddy Ellis, Liston Radney, Gary Hunt, and Buddy Durham.

STUDENTS of the month at Early County High School for the month of December were Tanga Ford and Tavi Williams.

JEFFERSON Howell, 14- year-old son of Dr. and Mrs. Alex Howell, bagged an 8- point buck while hunting with a friend in Clay County.

Jan. 14, 1982

EARLY County's librarian of nearly 20 years, Mrs. Mary Whitehead, retired Dec. 31, 1981, looking forward to her next part in life.

THREE NEW directors have been added to the Board of the First State Bank of Blakely. At the annual stockholder's meeting held the past Friday, Ron Collins, Clink Alexander, and Jim Hattaway, all of Blakely, were elected to the board.

BARBARA Crawford is Early County's new librarian, having begun her duties this month with the retirement of Mrs. Mary Whitehead.

Jan. 17, 1957

MR. JULIAN J. Moore, president of the Blakely Shrine Club, Mr. Ralph J. Balkcom, ambassador at large, and Dr. Jack G. Standifer, Past Potentate, attended the annual meeting of Hasan Shrine Temple in Albany last week.

J. FRANK Gilbert, local representative of Gulf Life Insurance Company, has qualified for his company's President's Club with an outstanding record in 1956.

FRIENDS will be interested to know that Thomas Grier, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Grier of Blakely, has been named to the honor roll af Emory and Oxford.

75 YEARS AGO

Jan. 14, 1932

NEARLY four inches of rain fell in Blakely the past week, which was followed by some cold weather.

A SON was born to Mr. and Mrs. Russell W. Sutlive of New London, Conn., Jan. 1. His father is in the Coast Guard and has been stationed at New London for several years.

MR. JAMES Paul of Lakeland, Fla., is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. G.M. Sparks.

MR. JESSE Bowman of Thomasville was a visitor of Blakely last Sunday.

100 YEARS AGO

Jan. 17, 1907

TUESDAY, Jan. 15, at the residence of the bride's father, Mr. O.D. Brunson, Miss Floy Brunson was united in marriage to Mr. M.E. Haisten of Columbia. Rev. N.W. Hurst performed the ceremony.

ONE OF the coils of the dynamo at the light plant burned out Wednesday night and the city will probably be in darkness for a week.

JUDGE A.G. Powell was down from Atlanta this week.

MR. D.W. JAMES went down to Bainbridge on a business mission last Wednesday.

ALBANY now has 25 retail liquor saloons, three wholesale liquor houses, and two wholesale beer houses, besides others.

Jan. 12, 1882

MISS CLAUDE Jernigan of Fort Gaines is visiting relatives in this place.

WE ARE glad to learn that Dr. Will Standifer's broken leg is doing as well as could be expected.

MR. FRANK Newberry and Miss Mattie Hardy, both of Miller County, were united in the holy bonds of matrimony Jan. 5, the Rev. J.S. Tipton performing the ceremony.
