Basketball registration
      The Blakely-Early County Recreation Department basketball registration began Oct. 22 and will continue through Nov. 10. Participants must be between five and not over 17 years of age by Jan. 1, 2008. Birth certificates are required to register. Registration is $20 and children can sign up at the recreation department office at 1656 North Main Street.

Bobcats battle with Fitzgerald, end with 24-21 loss
      The Early County Bobcats came within 12 yards of beating Fitzgerald last Friday night at Standifer Field. But Malcolm Lundy stepped in front of a Bobcat pass at the 5-yard line and the Hurricanes held on to beat the Bobcats 24-21 in a battle of unbeaten teams.

The heat of Friday night lights
My Two Cents
      It is rare when a game that has a huge build up lives up to the hype. The Early-Fitzgerald game last Friday night at Standifer Field not only lived up to that hype but surpassed it. Yeah, I walked away disappointed like all other Bobcat fans. Disappointed that we lost, but not in our kids' effort.

Band of Blue ranked superior
      The Early County High Band of Blue participated in the second annual Southern Showcase Marching Band Festival in Dothan Oct. 13 and brought home a superior rating. The Band of Blue is scheduled to compete again Oct. 27 in the Middle Georgia Marching Festival in Warner Robins.

Bobcat volleyball takes second in region
      The Early County High School girls took second in the region volleyball contest Saturday, Oct. 20. The team has been among the top teams in the region throughout the season. Early County played Chattahoochee County for the region title in the last round of the tournament losing 1-3 in a best 3-5 match.
