Students recognized
      The Early County Literacy Task Force hosted a recognition ceremony Thursday, Oct. 18 for local GED graduates. Held in the middle school cafeteria, the graduationstyle ceremony provided Early County graduates an opportunity to be recognized by their community.

Middle school class donates book to library
      Students in Mrs. Raley's sixth grade Voyager connections class at Early County Middle School recently held a recycling drive. The students collected cans and can tops. The students purchased a book by author Carole Marsh with the money they received from their collection. They donated the book to their school library.

ECHS Homecoming plans finalized for Nov. 2
      Bobcats of all ages will be busy next week as Homecoming 2007 activities fill the evenings. The homecoming parade will begin at 5:30 Thursday, Nov. 1. Participants should line up in the ECHS parking lot at 4:30 p.m.

FFA brings home awards
      During the 2007 Georgia National Fair, several Early County FFA members submitted projects they completed during their wood working class. Under the small built project category, John Dunnigan won first place for his tool tray and Clifton LeGrone won second place for his bird feeder.

FFA names member of week
      Kolin Pyle, son of Kim and Pam Pyle of Blakely, has been selected as the FFA member of the week. As a freshman at Early County High School, Pyle has already competed in the tractor driving contest. He won first place at the local level and he placed sixth at the Area V contest.
