Harold Smith Superintendent

Harold Johnson Smith, 83, died June 9, 2007, sitting by his beloved fish pond at his home in Cedar Springs.

Mr. Smith was born in Geneva, Ala., Dec. 6, 1923, to Espy S. Smith and Susie Outlaw Smith. He was retired assistant maintenance superintendent at the paper mill in Cedar Springs. He was a member of Sowhatchee Baptist Church and a past master of Magnolia Masonic Lodge 86, as well as an active member of Eastern Star Chapter 282.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Murrell G. Smith; three daughters, Mary F. Holmes and husband Bobby of Blakely, Judy G. Howard of Gallatin, Tenn., and Kathryn E. Smith of Cottonwood; two sons, Espy S. Smith and wife Janyce of Blakely and Jon A. Smith and wife Janet of Blakely; one sister, Ruth Ingraham of Tampa; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at the chapel of Manry- Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home with Rev. Hubert Smith officiating. Interment followed at Pine Lawn Gardens.

Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
