Commodities to be distributed in Early County
      USDA government surplus commodity distribution will be held in Early County at the Neighborhood Service Center on March 22, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. if supplies last. All recipients must certify their eligibility. Those who wish to qualify need to bring some form of identification and know their total household income.

Governor releases $3 million from emergency fund
      Gov. Sonny Perdue announced that he is releasing $3 million from the state's emergency discretionary fund to cover past and future expenses incurred by local governments in responding to last week's severe weather. Preliminary estimates indicate that as much as $11 million will be needed to match federal disaster assistance funds.

Beware of credit card scams when staying at hotels
      If you're staying in a hotel and receive a "helpful" call from the concierge regarding your credit card, beware. Money magazine reports on a new scam making the rounds, and it targets trusting travelers. The premise is simple enough. During your stay at a hotel, you receive a call from someone claiming to be from the front desk. "There was a problem with your credit card," they'll say.
