     Jake and Max Sealy had a great fishing trip Sunday morning in a secret spot. Jake's fish weighed 6 lbs. and Max's weighed 3.4 lbs.

Fire Department personnel complete training
      Lt. Eddy Burdette and Sgt. Glynn Floyd of the City of Blakely Fire Department have successfully completed the National Standardized Child Passenger Safety Training Program to become certified technicians. As technicians, they will be able to assist and train individuals in the proper installation of a child safety seat.

Constitutional amendment to establish redistricing commission
      Gov. Sonny Perdue introduced a constitutional amendment to establish the Citizens Redistricting Commission, an independent redistricting commission that would help ensure fairly drawn districts and improve public faith in the elective process. The amendment is being sponsored by Sen. Ronnie Chance, one of the governor's floor leaders in the Senate.

Relay For Life Bake Sale
      Saturday, March 24 IN THE PARKING LOT OF GRIST OIL CO. ON THE SQUARE The Methodist Men of Blakely First United Methodist Church will sponsor a colossal bake sale. The sale will begin promptly at 8 a.m. All proceeds from the sale will go to Relay for Life to help in the fight against cancer. All baked boods will be delicious and homemade.

Pre-schoolers learn about safety
     Brent Alderman, of the Early County Sheriff's Department, visited the children at First Baptist Weekday Education. He taught them about safety, what policemen do, and most importantly, that police officers are friends. Annual 'Walk in History' set for March 17-18
      Columbia Historical Society's fourth annual Walk in History will be presented March 17 and 18. Highlighted will be some of the most prominent and loved Columbia citizens. Attendees will hear of Urbane Bradley Oglesby, a professor at Columbia Institute and The Academy. Professor Oglesby touched many lives with his history in Columbia.
