Mumbles
The one thing about this Christmas that is NOT different, is that it is coming at us faster than we can get those partridges in the pear trees. But, that’s not completely true. The operative word here is “us.” I remember when Christmas couldn’t get here fast enough. Most of you can, too. We were all once bright-eyed children, hyper with the anticipation of Santa’s arrival, trying to go to sleep with visions of that bicycle, erector set (dolls for you ladies) or cowboy outfit we hoped to find the next morning. As we grew older, most of us had to turn to someone like the grandma in the front page story to understand that there is a Santa and that there is magic in believing. And, if the Santa story on this page doesn’t stir your emotions, duck! Christmas is about to hit you in the head. True stories you ask? If you did, you missed the whole point. Duck again, here come Christmas! As long as we never forget the true meaning of Christmas — that we’re celebrating the birth of Christ — it’s okay for us to grow up and understand the complexities of Santa Claus. If we’re lucky we get to see the anticipation that comes with Christmas in the eyes of our children, and their children. We get to experience the excitement of his visit, watching them open their presents and play with their toys. Those not that lucky will hopefully have their hearts filled with the hope, joy and love of the season by... The Greatest Gift of All. ************
